Judith Nelson is a managing partner of Goodman & Nelson Resolution-Solution, LLC, a mediation and arbitration firm. She served as Judge of Compensation Claims, District K (Dade and Monroe Counties, Florida) from December 1986 through March 2001. Ms. Nelson was originally appointed by then Governor Robert Graham in 1986, reappointed in 1990 by then Governor Robert Martinez, reappointed in 1995 and 1998 by then Governor Lawton Chiles.

Before her appointment to the judiciary, Ms. Nelson was an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami. Prior to this, Ms. Nelson was associated with the Law Offices of James O. Nelson and was panel counsel for Travelers Insurance Company. Ms. Nelson's main emphasis was in workers compensation and related matters.

Ms. Nelson received her mediation training from Florida International University - Circuit Civil Mediation Training Program. Ms. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Cum Laude).

The professional organizations Ms. Nelson is a member of include: Conference of Judges of Compensation Claims (from 1986 to 2001); Florida Bar Association - Workers' Compensation Section; Friends of 440 (an educational organization) wherein she served as Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors and a Trustee of the Friends of 440 Scholarship Fund.

In 2001, Ms. Nelson retired from the bench to devote more time to The Victory School for Children with Autism which she co-founded with Barry Nelson in June 2000. Ms. Nelson holds the position of Executive Director of the school.

Ms. Nelson's other community involvement includes being a member of the Statewide Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force, Division of Workers' Compensation; member of the Autism Society of America - Broward Chapter; Chairperson - Board of Directors of the University of Miami Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and prior member of the Board of Directors for the Women's division of the Weizmann Institute of Science, South Florida Region.
